I am Italian, and I watch Italian TV, and it has been brought to my attention that Italians don’t seem to like their language. They think English is so cool, that they have decided to use the English language in a most silly way, especially in ads. Things like ‘Oh, e cosi COOL!’ meaning, ‘it’s so cool!’ are very annoying; they have their own bloody language, use it! Sometimes they put things that don’t even make sense: ‘io mi sento DANCE,’ meaning ‘i feel dance!’ what does that mean? and they don’t pronounce it D-AA-N-CE. No, they pronounce it DENSE. And it is really quite annoying, having to listen to this crap, when they actually have a beautiful language. And all those words that they use can be used in Italian as well!

One advert of Hannah Montana: ‘Ti vuoi scatenare con la piu scatenata delle TEENAGER?’ meaning’ do you want to be crazy with the most crazy teenager?’ THEY HAVE THE WORD! IT’S ADOLESCENTE! WHY NOT USE IT?

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL! In Italy, they use the real name of VAUXHALL. They call it OPEL, thats nothing bad. But listen to their slogan: Drive your way. Ok. I dont see. You are in Italy. Why not use the name in Italian? WHY? They could’ve said it in Italian, ‘Guida a modo tuo.’ But NO, they had to act ‘cool’ and cannot use their own language, and say that CRAP!!!!!

The other ad is the vodafone. This is the most annoying. Their slogan is : Life is now. THEY invented it, because ours is something else. That doesn’t even make much sense in English. We KNOW LIFE IS NOW! And the funny thing is, they don’t even know what half the words they are using are. -_-

In Italian schools, they teach English. That’s ok, isn’t it? But HOW they teach English is a very different story. They dont pronounce cat, ‘CAT.’ No, they pronounce it ‘KET.’ And I keep on saying to my friends, if you say that in England, they will laugh at you. So Jack becomes Jek, lamb becomes Lem, black becomes blek. And it’s just stupid that they fill Italian minds with the wrong pronounciation.

One more ad: ‘Io sono FASHION (pronounced FESHION’. That, in English, means ‘I am Fashion.’ Does that make any sense to you? It doesn’t to me.
